Nutritional Supplementation
Long ago, when humanity was young, we ate raw foods such as plants, fruits,
berries, nuts, vegetables, beans, and grains, later adding fish, fowl, and
animals. Our original foods were composed of proteins, carbohydrates, natural
fats, minerals, and enzymes that came from unpolluted soil and water supplies.
Today, the quality of our processed foods is lower, with less fiber and nutrients.
The food supply available in our supermarkets is also not nearly as wholesome
as it was years ago. The compromised quality of food accessible today results
in an urgent need for daily nutritional supplementation.
Following is a description of several essential nutrients and their function
in your wellness:
Vitamin B complex
Thiamin (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacinamide (B3), Pantothenic Acid (B5), Pyridoxine
(B6), Cyanocobalamin (B12), Folic Acid, and Biotin
Function - enables conversion of food into useable
energy for the body, synthesis of almost all brain chemicals, and hormone
synthesis including insulin and growth hormone. Deficiency of any B complex
factor can lead to serious conditions.
Vitamin C
Function - essential for the maintenance and
repair of all body tissues; antioxidant, minimizing breakdown of cell membranes
in tissues from free radical molecules produced during normal metabolism.
Vitamin E
Function - required with Vitamin C in repair
and prevention of damage from cell breakdown.
Minerals
Function - necessary for growth and repair of
all tissues, act as catalysts in many metabolic pathways, and support bone
health.
