It is vital to encourage children to develop the right behaviors when involved
in sports. Nutrition, stretching and rest are cornerstones to healthy sports
participation. Encourage your child to:
Always wear protective equipment
Stretch before activity begins
Maintain a healthy weight
Eat well-balanced meals
Drink plenty of water
Get plenty of sleep
Eat the proper amount of protein every day
Drink sports drinks rather than caffeinated or carbonated drinks
Take vitamins daily
Avoid performance-based supplements
